Ealing Broadway is the town centre: the station, with the Elizabeth line, the Central and District lines and Great Western trains, Haven Green across the road from it, and the shops along The Broadway and New Broadway, where the Town Hall stands. Round here nearly every job we do is a flat, and the flats come in three kinds.
Over the shops
Some of the parades on New Broadway were built in 1905, when electric trams had been running past for four years, and there are flats above them and above many of the older shops along the Uxbridge Road. They are usually reached through a street door between two shopfronts and a long straight stair, and that stair carpet takes every bag, bike and box carried up it. We carry the machine up and stand it on your landing, and the stair is done last, working down towards the street door.
Two bedrooms, a living room, the hallway and the flight up from the street door come to £178. The stair from the street door is £41 of that, the hall £22, the living room £43 and the two bedrooms £72.
Blocks with lifts
On the north side of Haven Green is a five-storey block of flats from the 1930s, and the newer apartment buildings at Dickens Yard and Filmworks have added a good many more homes to the town centre. Where a block has a lift, the machine comes up in it and stays inside your door. Tell us when you book if the building wants contractors to sign in, use a service lift or stop in a loading bay, and we will sort it out with them before the day.
In one of the new blocks, two bedrooms plus the living room and hall come to £137. Between tenants it often makes sense to do both mattresses on the same visit, at £35 each, which brings it to £207.

The van near the station
Zone W is only enforced for an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon on weekdays, so we plan the arrival round those two windows. Any paid bay we do need is added at cost.
